Applying the Incremental Commitment Model to Brownfield System Development
نویسنده
چکیده
The Incremental Commitment Model (ICM) is a risk-driven process model generator for which common risk patterns generate common special-case system definition and development process models. The increasing importance of Brownfield (legacyconstrained) vs. Greenfield (unconstrained) application systems created a challenge of determining an ICM Brownfield risk pattern and an associated set of special-case process guidelines. This paper presents a case study of a failed Brownfield project, and shows how the concurrent-engineering activities, risk assessments, and anchor point milestones of the ICM could have avoided the failure. It compares the resulting ICM special-case Brownfield process with two leading Brownfield approaches, the CMU-SEI SMART approach and the IBM Brownfield approach, and finds them compatible and complementary.

Aims & Backgrounds: The concept of redevelopment is accompanied by measures and forecasts to improve the quality of the physical environment of cities. This is necessary happened when the cohesion, coordination and performance of the urban environment is diminished and does not meet the needs of the environment. Brownfields are, including abandoned areas, inefficient and in need of redevelopmen...
متن کاملUsing the Incremental Commitment Model to Achieve Successful System Development
Studies to evaluate the usage and success of the spiral development model have shown mixed results—many successes but many misinterpretations and neglect of its underlying principles, leading to continuing development problems and failed systems. This article describes a recent improvement to the spiral development process model that is easier to understand, is harder to misinterpret, and bette...

Complex, software intensive systems — especially those with multiple software component developers — and Directed System of Systems (DSOS) or Acknowledged Systems of Systems (ASOS) need approaches to control the development and estimate the software development costs and schedules. This paper will introduce a next-generation synthesis of the spiral model and other leading process models into th...

Abstract. Requirements Engineering (RE) is a key activity in the development of software systems and is concerned with the identification of the goals of stakeholders and their elaboration into precise statements of desired services and behavior. The research describes an Agile Requirements Engineering approach for re-engineering & changes in existing Brownfield adaptive system. The approach ha...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection
In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...
